Acuphotonix™

3 Levels Of Penetration. Acupuncture & Moxa Together

🔴 630nm: Surface-Level Activation

The 630nm wavelength falls within the visible red light spectrum and is primarily absorbed in the epidermis and upper dermis, penetrating about 2–3 mm into the skin. This shallow penetration is ideal for targeting local blood circulation, qi stagnation in the superficial channels, and early-stage inflammation.

From a TCM perspective, 630nm acts similarly to shallow acupuncture needling techniques, such as threading or subcutaneous insertion. It stimulates local acupoints, opens surface-level meridians, and enhances qi and blood flow without physically puncturing the skin. It’s ideal for facial rejuvenation, superficial pain, or cosmetic protocols involving delicate areas like around the eyes or lips.

🔴 660nm: Deeper Channel Regulation

The 660nm wavelength, also part of the red light spectrum, penetrates slightly deeper than 630nm — reaching up to 5–6 mm. This depth aligns with the muscle layer and vascular plexus, allowing for more substantial stimulation of both jing-luo (meridian pathways) and deeper tissue healing.

In TCM terms, 660nm mimics deeper needle insertion, comparable to moderate-depth acupuncture into muscle belly points or ashi points. It’s excellent for addressing blood stagnation, deeper cosmetic rejuvenation, and promoting tissue regeneration in areas like joints, the scalp, or cheeks. The physiological effect is enhanced mitochondrial activity, collagen production, and circulation at a restorative depth.

🔥 850nm: Infrared Penetration as Moxibustion

The 850nm wavelength enters the near-infrared (NIR) range and penetrates much deeper — up to 20–30 mm into subcutaneous tissue, fascia, and even joint capsules. While it’s invisible to the naked eye, it delivers gentle heat and promotes deep tissue activation and internal warming.

Functionally, 850nm behaves like moxa (moxibustion). It’s warming, dispersing, and tonifying — ideal for treating yang deficiency, cold stagnation, joint stiffness, and chronic pain. Like a moxa stick held over a point or meridian, it invigorates the yang, unblocks the channels, and promotes circulation at a systemic level. It's highly effective for arthritis, low back pain, and chronic cold conditions in TCM diagnostics.

Research Driven

After using 630nm, 660nm, & 850nm for 16 weeks, the CFGS score of the independent raters and investigators showed significant differences at 8, 12, and 16 weeks. In addition, considering the success criteria of this study, a comparison of independent raters showed an improvement rate of ≥69.2% (full analysis set [FAS]: 86.2%, per-protocol set [PPS]: 89.3%) and a difference of ≥49.2% from the control group The change in scores from the baseline showed significant differences between the test group and the control groups at 8, 12, and 16 weeks for both independent raters and investigators.
